The Who, What, How and Why?

Who

This is a small business from Sweden! It’s one guy and a ton of AI to be exact. So far we are just selling services and consultation. I say we because 99% of the services are managed by AI.

Alice, Carl, Dennis and other botworkers are the backbone of our company.

I (Magnus) code that AI, and pay the bills to run things. I wrote my first piece of software on the great C64 around 1986. Since then I’ve built so much software that it would be impossible for me to list!
I have also worked as CEO, CTO, Engineering Manager, Head of development. And probably a couple of more roles that I have forgot. Lets just say I’ve seen/done a lot when it comes to companies.

What

In short, I wanted to test how many different Company departments AI can run autonomously. I already had an early version of Alice when i started. She was thoroughly field tested and now even more! So I thought lets put her in a bigger context.

While building a dummy-company would have been OK. I wanted to go even further, and that became The Botwork Place.

The products we will eventually monetize is our AI-departments (botworkers). All the other services have a price level for self-uphold.

In short we build AI tools to run any company.

How

The Botwork Place is Slim-lined so that it can pay for it’s own upkeep forever. The price-tag on the services are nothing more (or less) than self-support for your setup. Botwork already have the funds needed for our upkeep. But it’s hard to calculate the exact costs. And there will be small price-changes if Dennis see that there are surplus or deficit for a single service.

Our AI-departments for Botwork use these services to build The Botwork Place-company! And they will forever have a price level set to “self-uphold”! If you are not interested in the AI. And just want easy way to use the services then you are all set to go. There is no lock in, as all services are 100% open source solutions.

As soon as all criteria is filled for a new AI-department (a huge list to tick of). It get launched as a standalone product. Priced fairly but profitable.

Talking about criteria. I build all the AI tools sand-boxed and standalone. The on-boarding is the same as for a new coworker. Except for a botworker you buy one top of the line workstation. That is it! We need a lot of GPU power in the workstation. Its also optional to have it setup on-site. It’s probably easier to just rent one from us in the “cloud” but that is your decision to take. Same thing apply for a “workstation” its priced for self-uphold. The botwoker will then “live” on the workstation and have the exact same access to files as any normal coworker. No fast-lane directly into a database connection, they use the normal browser/program interfaces as you and I. We can adapt the AI to use any program you can think of, just as any human. It is also security/privacy robust. And you can treat the AI like any other employee when/if you want to remove or add access.

Why

First; I did not want to go the google-way! There are many reasons for this decision! The one thing there is no point asking us is support for those services. We do not want to build anything based on their platform! But if you really want to do that there is a plugin system for the botworkers. And you can add the support yourself should you really want to. This goes for all the other BIG-tech companies as well.

Secondly; After the amount of company setups I’ve seen I can honestly say that most are bad or worse! And the ones that do a good job are almost 100% google-setup. Why we are shipping all that data over the pond is beyond me. We live and operate in Europe. Even though they say our data stays here I for one do not trust them! We do not need their services as there are really great open source alternatives! the only problem I’ve seen with the approach of self-hosting is a lack of expertise and knowledge.

Thirdly; I love a challenge! In this case there where two very interesting to me. Can we push the new LLM AI to the point where its actually helpful. And not just “almost as good as a human” or “a tool for small well defined tasks”. There was also the challenge of creating a tool-set that a company/individual expect in a modern environment without any BIG-tech.

Support and help

While most AI we interact with daily lives in this space. At Botwork we still have not created one that meets our standards. If there ever will be AI on the human relations side for us. It’s going to be so great that it will fool anyone that it’s a human. Obviously it will disclaim that it is artificial, but the interaction should never feel impersonal!

Magnus will take the calls, chats and most email to start with and will do hes best to keep up. If that grows out of hand (feels like pretty soon) we will staff up.

Our preferred open source services.

They are all great and some have their own paid plans that you can have a look at!
